The Neighborhood Design Center, with support from The Columbus Public Art Program, the Greater Columbus Arts Council, the Columbus Foundation and the Dailey Foundation has launched the Request for Qualification/Artist Call for the Livingston Park Public Art Project.

Livingston Park, located on Livingston Avenue across the street from Children’s Hospital, between Ann Street and South 18th Street in Columbus, is a prime location to showcase a community-oriented and historically-themed masterpiece. The project is the second in a series to celebrate Livingston Avenue as the location of the first streetcar line in Columbus. Artists living and/or working in Ohio are welcome to submit qualifications for this excellent opportunity.
Budget: $50,000, all inclusive.

Art on the Commons 2015: Call for Entries!

Join the Rosewood Arts Centre and the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department for Art on the Commons!
This 27-year-old Dayton-area art festival returns at Kettering’s Lincoln Park Civic Commons on Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 11 AM to 5 PM. Artwork will be on display and for sale in various juried mediums such as jewelry, ceramics, paintings, photography, metals, watercolor, sculpture, glass, fibers and wood.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: March 31, 2015
With live music and entertainment, a variety of food and drink vendors, and the fine art atmosphere, it’s no wonder why Art on the Commons has been recognized as an “outstanding festival” by national and local artist news publications. Check out last year’s press release.

2015 Healing Art Project

McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio is proud to announce its Fifth Annual Juried Exhibition for the Healing Art Project. This call for entry allows for an opportunity for artists to exhibit and sell two-dimensional work for up to one year!

The 2015 Healing Art Project is a regional show open to artists within a 100 mile radius of Oxford, OH, or to those artists who have a personal connection with the hospital. Artists are encouraged to explore the concept of art as a therapeutic element or healing instrument. Work will be judged on originality, theme, design, concept, technique, and appropriateness to the space and facility.

DEADLINE for SUBMISSION: March 9, 2015 (postmarked)

Up to seven pieces selected for a purchase award will become property of the McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, and artists may submit up to three works each.

Columbus Moving Image Art Review 22: Call for Entries

For the Columbus Moving Image Art Review, artists are asked to send in new or old animations, videos, films, or propositions of an a/v performance. If it uses light and moves, it’s fair game! Videos, film, animations, documentaries, narratives, experimental, student and professional works are all eligible for submission, and with no time or subject constraints, artists are encouraged to use every bit of their imaginations.

Call for Entries: ROY G BIV’s “New School” Juried Exhibition

ROY G BIV Gallery is accepting submissions for New School, a juried exhibition for undergraduate students. This exhibition aims to showcase the best, cutting-edge student work and to connect student artists from different schools. Jurors Mark Zuzik (Pizzuti Collection), Ken Aschliman (ROY G BIV) and Erin McKenna (Canzani Gallery) will select the exhibiting artists.
Deadline for submission is Friday, February 20, 2015.
Embrace the opportunity to show works side-by-side along peer emerging artists from all over the community.
New School will be exhibited at MINT Gallery from April 17- May 15, 2015, with and Opening Reception April 17 from 7 – 10 PM.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program. Entries are open to student artists anywhere who work in all types of materials, practices and styles. All work must have been created within the last two years

Barbara Vogel to appear at Dublin Arts Center Gallery in April

Ohio Art League member-artist extraordinaire Barbara Vogel, along with Marjorie Bender, will hostFamily and Friends, a moving and amusing look at the pivotal relationships of our lives and the people within them.
Family and Friends will be on display at the Dublin Arts Council from April 7 through May 16, 2015, with a public Opening Reception April 7 from 6- 8 PM.
Bender is best known for her clay sculptures, but also produces and exhibits drawings and paintings. Vogel’s background is in photography. Many of her works continue to connect to photographic images, often in unexpected ways. Vogel also was awarded for her accomplishments among the community at the Ohio Made festival the previous summer.
The artists excel in conveying the many dimensions of our closest relationships and in utilizing humor — sometimes whimsical, sometimes dark — to undercut sentimentality. Family and Friendsbrings together earlier and more recent works by both artists and will feature a new collaborative project that pays homage to a number of their mutual friends and mentors.

OAL’s Spring Juried Exhibition Deadline Draws Near!

It’s that time of year again, everybody!

Ohio Art League’s Spring Juried Exhibition is one of the main components of our annual programming, and this year SJE will be held at Fort Hayes Shot Tower Gallery– an incredible space to show off your incredible art!

It’s not too late to submit entries and have the opportunity to exhibit your artwork alongside other geniuses of the community. Deadline for submission is THIS SUNDAY Feb. 1st by 11:59 AM (nearly noon)!!!!

R.A.W. Gallery in Downtown Columbus is hosting the 2nd Annual Art Collector’s Show, in which the owner of an artwork exhibits his or her favorite pieces of art!

Join us this Friday, January 23rd from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at R.A.W. Gallery for the Art Collector’s Show Reception to experience this rare show in which artists, collectors, art enthusiasts, and art lovers may understand why an Art Collector chose a particular piece of original art to purchase and appreciate all their own.

Art and Artists Of Network and Open Door Art Studio and Gallery announce the Call for Entries for the juried exhibit Perpetuating Purpose that will be on display from February 28 through March 27, 2015.

Perpetuating Purpose is a demonstration of the importance to create and to have creativity in our lives, and artists of all media are invited to submit one piece to be submitted for the jurying process. Find out all the nitty-gritty fine print here.

Upper Arlington’s Concourse Gallery to host OAL Member-artists!

On display from January 7- 30, you can check out Ohio Art League member artists Louise CapteinN. Penney Denning, and Christine Guillot Ryan for Concourse Gallery‘s Collage 2015 Exhibition.

Along with other artists, these three OAL members explore a wide range of approaches to the medium of collage or collage-mixed media. Creating these two- and three- dimensional works allows the artists to be more flexible and spontaneous before committing to a final composition.

Join us Sunday January 11, 2015 from 3- 5 p.m.at Concourse Gallery in Upper Arlington for Collage 2015 Opening Reception. 

Stay tuned through the winter, because curator and OAL member-artist Char Norman is going to stretch the traditional view of photography this spring with Beyond Photography at the Concourse Gallery.

From May 1 through June 26, 2015Beyond Photography brings together a diverse group of artists who use photography as an element of their work; from photogravure, a photo-mechanical process which results in a high quality intaglio print, encaustic and even iPhone snapshots, Norman incorporates various aspects of the photographical process as progressive categories for the medium.
