Rosewood Gallery’s “The View: Juried Landscape Exhibition” CALL FOR ENTRIES

Kettering’s Rosewood Gallery presents the 21st Annual exhibition of The View, a showcase for Ohio artists to present abstract or traditional views of landscape, environmental themes and imagery, and world issues. 

  • Entries must be original works in any media (two- or three-dimensional), completed within the last four years and may not exceed 60″ in width.
  • Work previously exhibited at Rosewood Gallery is not eligible for entry.
  • Jurying will be done based on digital images. 
Deadline for submission is March 28, 2015
The Viewwill be on display at Kettering, Ohio’s Rosewood Gallery from May 18 through June 29, 2015. The Opening Reception will take place the afternoon of Sunday, May 17 from 2- 4 PM

This year’s juror, Kristin Spangenberg, serves as Curator of Prints at the Cincinnati Art Museum. She has more than 40 years of experience in her field, having previously served as Assistant Curator of Prints at the Cincinnati Art Museum and Assistant Curator of Graphic Arts at the Detroit Institute of Arts. 

Art on the Commons 2015: Call for Entries!


Join the Rosewood Arts Centre and the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department for Art on the Commons!
This 27-year-old Dayton-area art festival returns at Kettering’s Lincoln Park Civic Commons on Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 11 AM to 5 PM. Artwork will be on display and for sale in various juried mediums such as jewelry, ceramics, paintings, photography, metals, watercolor, sculpture, glass, fibers and wood.
With live music and entertainment, a variety of food and drink vendors, and the fine art atmosphere, it’s no wonder why Art on the Commons has been recognized as an “outstanding festival” by national and local artist news publications. Check out last year’s press release.

2015 Healing Art Project

McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio is proud to announce its Fifth Annual Juried Exhibition for the Healing Art Project. This call for entry allows for an opportunity for artists to exhibit and sell two-dimensional work for up to one year!

The 2015 Healing Art Project is a regional show open to artists within a 100 mile radius of Oxford, OH, or to those artists who have a personal connection with the hospital. Artists are encouraged to explore the concept of art as a therapeutic element or healing instrument. Work will be judged on originality, theme, design, concept, technique, and appropriateness to the space and facility.

DEADLINE for SUBMISSION: March 9, 2015 (postmarked)

Up to seven pieces selected for a purchase award will become property of the McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, and artists may submit up to three works each.

OAL’s Spring Juried Exhibition Deadline Draws Near!


It’s that time of year again, everybody!

Ohio Art League’s Spring Juried Exhibition is one of the main components of our annual programming, and this year SJE will be held at Fort Hayes Shot Tower Gallery– an incredible space to show off your incredible art!

It’s not too late to submit entries and have the opportunity to exhibit your artwork alongside other geniuses of the community. Deadline for submission is THIS SUNDAY Feb. 1st by 11:59 AM (nearly noon)!!!!


Members and non-members are eligible to submit- as long as you’re 18+- but members enter for FREE! If you have yet to sign up as an OAL member, now is the perfect time to seize the opportunity to promote and critique your work amongst our 600+ membership base!

Call for Entries: LACDA 2015 International Juried Competition

With curators like Leigh Gleason, Curator of Collections, California Museum of Photography, and Shana Nys Dambrot, Critic for L.A. Weekly, Whitehot Magazine, Huffington Post, and Art Ltd, the LACDA 2015 International Juried Competition will be nothing short of spectacular this year.

Los Angeles Center for Digital Art (LACDA) 2015 International Juried Competition will exhibit from March 12 through April 4, 2015, with an Artist’s Reception Thursday, March 12 from 7 – 9 PM.

All styles of artwork and photography in which digital processes of any kind were integral to the creation of the images are eligible for submission! Entrants must submit three JPEG files of original work via online registration only. <–Step 1

Deadline for entries is February 23, 2015!!

Don’t worry, there are definitely prizes for the top winners of the competition!

The selected winner receives 10 prints up to 44×60 inches on canvas or museum quality paper (approximately a $2,500-$3,000 value) to be shown in a solo exhibition in our main gallery. The exhibit will be widely promoted and will include a reception for the artist.

Second place prizes: Ten second place winners will receive one print of their work up to 24×36 inches ($150-$200 in value) to be included in the winners’ exhibits and opening.

Winners will be announced March 2, 2015.

Get those LEGOS back out! It’s time to create!

The 2014 Lego Design Challenge, presented by the Center for Creativity at the Columbus Museum of Art, is a design competition that promotes the creative and original use of LEGO bricks!

Anyone is eligible to participate in the 2014 LEGO DESIGN CHALLENGE, but all finalists must be able to transport their designs to and from CMA on the designated dates. And by anyone, they mean anyone! All ages, as well as groups, are able to submit!

BUT, the deadline for submission is OCTOBER 17!

Those wishing to submit their unique, LEGO-based artwork, are asked to respond to the following challenge:

In The LEGO Movie, the characters explore a wild variety of imaginary worlds made of LEGO bricks. Help us imagine a new Columbus! What building, structure, or mode of transportation does a new Columbus need? Be a Master Builder and make something with LEGO bricks for our new Columbus.

Guidelines, you gotta have ’em:

  • The design must be built on a LEGO baseplate measuring 10”x10”
  • The design may not exceed 10” W x 10” L x 24” H

Judging will be based on:

  1. Creative application of LEGO bricks
  2. Imaginative design and concept
  3. Difficulty of execution

OAL member artists Audrey Crone and Amy Hipple have exhibited at several of our events throughout the years, and now they’re doing us one more solid by donating some works to our One Night Live Auction! Both of which, among all the others, are available for purchase at the event on October 10 at Strongwater Spirits and Gallery Space in Franklinton.

Ohio Art League member Amy Hipple is an art instructor with FCBDD and has been working in Stained Glass since 1978.  “I fell in love with the medium while on a field trip to Franklin Art Glass in 1970, and returned to work there before starting my career as an artist,” says Hipple. ” After working at Highlights for Children for 22 years, I received my teaching certificate and Masters of Education at Ohio Dominican University, and have been teaching students with disabilities ever since.” Check out Summer Glass Puddle below!


Aubrey Crone‘s Betty has made her niche in the artistic community, that’s for sure. You’ve probably seen her in some of our Member-Curated Exhibitions or, most definitely, our most recent Spring Juried Exhibition. Audrey P. Crone holds a Master’s Degree in Communication Designs from Pratt Institute in New York and is a Thai-Chinese New Yorker who currently resides in, that’s right, Columbus, Ohio.
