BIG LOCAL ART TENT AT THE 2012 COLUMBUS ARTS FESTIVAL
COLUMBUS ARTISTS JOIN UNDER ONE ROOF TO BRING THEIR LOCAL FLAIR TO THE FESTIVAL
At the 2012 Columbus Arts Festival, the place to find homegrown art is at the Big Local Art Tent. Creative groups from all over Columbus have come together to build a place to see, experience, and purchase incredible art from right here in the capital city, all under one lofted roof.
Housed in one giant tent, guests will be able to see a wide array of art and crafts for sale in the large art gallery. Local artists will be displaying their work for sale throughout the festival, and constantly mixing it up with new daily arrivals. Expect to see paintings, illustration, sculpture, jewelry, glassware, and ceramics, amongst other pieces.
For those festival goers who like to get their hands dirty, members of local arts organizations, including Columbus Crafty Cotillion, Columbus Artmobile, Cap City Creatives, Etsy Team Columbus, Columbus Idea Foundry, and Mother Artists at Work, will lead participants in a number of make and take projects throughout the weekend. These innovative projects will include recycled materials collages, mixed media brooches, polymer clay jewelry, weaving, and much more. Participants will walk away with a new-found skill as well as an original creation.
Throughout the festival, local Columbus artists from groups including Idea Foundry, Mother Artists at Work, Ab-x, Cobenick Studios and Cap City Creatives will demonstrate a wide variety of artistic techniques, including metal form folding as a method of jewelry making, oil painting, decorative paper ornaments, mixing bath salts, comic book design and illustration, rolling and texturing techniques for ceramic jewelry and beads, and others. Patrons will be able to view the creative process in action as well as learn about the techniques used.
The Big Local Art Tent will be in operation throughout the open hours of the festival and will welcome art lovers of all ages.
